3-Dimensional Design Using AutoCAD

Course Level:

Course Objectives:

To create entities in 3D space, using wire-frame models, surface models and solid models. These powerful features give you all the tools you need to produce multiple views, elevations, perspectives, surfaces, meshes and renderings of almost any drawn entity.

Prerequisites:

Must have successfully completed a 2D AutoCAD course or have a substantial experience of 2D design and draughting.

Duration:

20 weeks (60hrs)

Certification:

City & Guilds Certificate in Design and Draughting using AutoCAD

Examinations:

There are three practical and one written exam paper

Course Content:

Co-ordinate systems

Use of World and User Co-ordinate Systems and definition of 3D co-ordinates in the construction of 3D drawings.
Working with the Z-Axis.

Drawing and Editing

Use of 2D drawing entities on different User Co-Ordinate Systems and 3D drawing entities to produce 3D drawings.
Creation and editing of polygon meshes and creation of surfaced models.

Display Control

Use of plan views and multiple viewports in conjunction of 3D drawings.
Viewing of 3D models from points in space, use of perspective projection, clipping planes and hidden line removal.

Blocks

Creation and insertion of 3D blocks into drawings

Plotting

Production of plots of 3D drawings including views with perspective and hidden line removal.
