Module2 - Using the Computer and Managing Files
This Module is the basis for the Practical Test on using the computer and managing files. The purpose of this module is to test the candidateís knowledge of the basic housekeeping functions required for the efficient use for the computer, along with how an operating system can be used as well has to have the ability to understand and perform normal operations.
- Start the computer
- Create a folder and a sub-folder - understand the folder structure
- Move and copy files
- Delete files from one or more directories
- Create a file, using an editor, and save in a directory. The editor can be a word processing program or a simple editor
- Rename files
- Examine a directory, understand the number of files in that directory, the size of files and the date files were created or updated
- Take backup copies of data - copy files onto another diskette or disc (hard disc drive) or into another directory on the current diskette or disc
- Know how to select different printers from an installed list
- Be able to print from an installed printer
- Know how to reboot your machine and move between programs
- Use the Help function
- Understand the different file types
- Shut down the computer properly
